The X-BOW Highspeed Vanes were developed especially for bolts and are optimised for maximum performance. Manufactured from dimensionally stable and robust plastic, the flat shape, with a height of only 5mm (0.2 inches), is perhaps unusual, but well thought out. The Vane is designed to control the arrow effectively in flight, but with as little surface area for the wind to attack as possible, in order to gain significantly more speed.
For easier fletching, the underside is concave (curved inwards), which means that the Vane lies better against the shaft when it is installed and ensures a more even bond.
